This specimen was lot 3344 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $2,350. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 5 Ruble, 1825-CNB NA. NGC AU Details--Surface Hairlines. From the final year of Alexander I. Attractive orange peel tone over lustrous surfaces. Sharply struck and quite attractive despite the 'details' designation." This type was struck 1817-25 and is scarce.

Recorded mintage: 101,000 (both assayers, PS and PA), a rare date.

Specification: 6.54 g, 0.917 fine gold, .192 troy oz AGW.
