This specimen was lot 23525 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $840. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 5 Kopeks, 1825-CNB NA. PCGS MS-64 Secure Holder. Light and attractive toning covers the surfaces of this 'wings up' type that was struck from 1810 to 1826. No evidence of mishandling is seen, though die clash is visible on the reverse. Once encapsulated in an old green PCGS MS-65 holder (cert # 7420049) which still resides in the PCGS census as the finest graded of the date." This type is listed for 1810-26 and has a low catalog value in circulated condition. Silver five kopeks (KM C96.1, C126, C156, C163, Y19) alternated with copper five kopeks (KM C115, C140, C152, Y6, Y12) until 1880, when the issue of copper five kopeks ceased.

Recorded mintage: 1,160,000 (assayers ПД and НГ).

Specification: 1.04 g, 0.868 fine silver, .029 troy oz ASW.
