Künker sale 336, lot 6181

This specimen was lot 6181 in Künker sale 336 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €3,400 (about US$4,449 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RUSSLAND, KAISERREICH, Alexander I. 1801-1825. 5 Rubel 1824, St. Petersburg. GOLD. Fast vorzüglich. Erworben im europäischen Münzenhandel vor 1980. (empire of Russia, Alexander I, 1801-25, five rubles of 1823, St. Petersburg mint. Extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1817-25 and is scarce.

Recorded mintage: 276,000.
