This specimen was lot 2296 in Goldberg sale 112 (Los Angeles, September 2019), where it sold for $960. The catalog description[1] noted, "Russia. Rouble, 1824-СПБ ПД. Alexander I. Reflective luster with beautiful light golden tone. NGC graded MS-62." This type was struck 1810-26 in large quantities but is today very rare in nice condition. The succeeding type (Dav-282) is very similar but with a modified eagle.
Recorded mintage: 2,035,000 including an 1824/3 overdate.
