Sincona sale 78, lot 306

This specimen was lot 306 in Sincona sale 78 (Zürich, October 2022), where it sold for 60 CHF (about US$72 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA | Russian Empire and Federation | Catherine II. 1762-1796, 5 Kopecks 1766, Red Mint, MM. Overstruck on 5 Kopecks. 2 roubles according to Petrov. Good very fine. Traces of overstrike." This type was struck in Moscow 1766-68 and 1788-89 for circulation in Russia, not Siberia. It is full weight. Many survive today but few in choice condition.
