Sincona sale 78, lot 315

This specimen was lot 315 in Sincona sale 78 (Zürich, October 2022), where it sold for 500 CHF (about US$599 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA | Russian Empire and Federation | Catherine II. 1762-1796, 10 Kopecks 1770, Suzun Mint, KM. Rare. Extremely fine. Struck slightly off-centered." This type was struck 1766-81 for circulation in Siberia along with copper two and five kopeks. Many survive today but few in choice condition. On this type, two martens support a shield with the date and value.
