Russia 1770-SP 10 rubles Fr-129a
This specimen was lot 1862 in Sincona sale 90 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 42,000 CHF (about US$55,499 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RUSSLAND, Kaiserreich, Catherine II. 1762-1796, 10 Roubles 1770, St. Petersburg Mint, SPB. Very rare. 25 roubles according to Petrov. 25 roubles according to Ilyin. NGC AU55. (empire of Russia, Catherine II, 1762-96, ten rubles of 1770, St. Petersburg mint. Finest certified by NGC.)"
This type was struck 1766-76 and superseded the ten rubles of the Czarina Elizabeth which were 16.59 grams.
