This specimen was lot 1478 in Jean Elsen sale 165 (Brussels, June 2026), where it sold for €380 (about US$523 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RUSSIE, Catherine II (1762-1796), AR poltina, 1766 ЯI, Saint-Pétersbourg. D/ B. couronné à d. R/ Aigle impériale couronnée. Très rare. Beau à Très Beau. (empire of Russia, Catherine II, 1762-96, silver poltina of 1766, St. Petersburg mint. Obverse: crowned bust right; reverse: crowned imperial eagle. Very rare, Fine - Very Fine.)"

This type was issued from St. Petersburg (shown here) and Moscow 1766-76. Mintages were moderate but the type is rare today. A poltina was half a ruble.

Recorded mintage: 93,000 including mintmaster АШ.

Specification: 12 g, 0.750 fine silver, .289 troy oz ASW, this specimen 12,90 g.
