This specimen was lot 7144 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $646.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. Polupoltinnik (1/4 Ruble), 1766-MMA EI. Catherine II (The Great) (1762-96). PCGS AU-58 Secure Holder. Nicely struck with light attractive tone." This type was struck 1764-66 at Moscow; St. Petersburg did not issue this denomination until 1779.

Recorded mintage: 832,000.
