Stack's Bowers 2023 NYINC sale, lot 43334

This specimen was lot 43334 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $100. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 1/4 Ruble (Polupoltinnik), 1767-MMA EI. Moscow Mint. Catherine II (the Great). PCGS VF-20." This type of 1767-75 is fairly common in circulated condition. Note the heavily worn reverse die.

Recorded mintage: 1,668,000, the most common date.

Specification: 5.97 g, 0.750 fine silver, 23.9 mm diameter.
