This specimen was lot 72131 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2021), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 5 Kopeks, 1767-CNM. St. Petersburg Mint. Catherine II (the Great). NGC EF-40 Brown. A wholesome and evenly worn coin, struck over a previous issued 5 Kopek of Peter III. The overstrike is clear on the obverse, with the reverse a bit weaker. The surfaces exhibit a deep brown to charcoal patina." This type was struck 1763-67 and 1788 in the St. Petersburg mint for circulation in Russia during the reign of Catherine the Great. Russia has the distinction of being the first country to issue decimal currency, as 100 kopeks = one ruble.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a rare date.
