This specimen was lot 24886 in Heritage sale 3030 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $4,465. The catalog description[1] noted, "Catherine II Poltina (1/2 Rouble) 1766 CПБ-AIII, St. Petersburg mint, AU58 NGC. Well struck with abundant remaining luster and minor reverse planchet flaws. This is the only example of this rare issue certified in all grades by NGC." This type was issued from St. Petersburg (shown here) and Moscow 1762-96. Mintages were moderate but the type is rare today. A poltina was half a ruble.

Recorded mintage: 93,000 (including assayer HK).

Specification: 12 g, 0.750 fine silver, .289 troy oz ASW.
