This specimen was lot 2070 in Goldberg's NY International sale 59 (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $3,600. The catalog description[1] noted, "Rouble 1766 CПБ-TI-ЯI. Authenticated and graded by NGC MS 62 (# 6611824-009). Satiny lustre. Brilliant uncirculated." This type was struck at St. Petersburg 1766-76 in substantial numbers and is probably the most available ruble of this ruler. Catherine the Great began life as an obscure German princess but became czarina after the murder of her husband. The rubles of Peter II were about 28 grams but this type is only 24 grams.

Recorded mintage: 1,682,000, including mintmaster АШ.
