Sincona sale 69, lot 1169

This specimen was lot 1169 in Sincona sale 69 (Zürich, May 2021), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"RUSSLAND. Elisabeth, 1741-1761. Poltina 1756, St. Petersburg, YaI. Sehr selten. Fast sehr schön. Schrötlingsfehler. (empire of Russia, Elizabeth I, 1741-61, poltina of 1756, St. Petesburg mint. Very rare, About very fine, Flan flaw.)"

This type was struck 1751-61. It is not rare but expensive in nice condition. Assayers Ivan Markov or Yakov Ivanov both issued poltinas in 1756.

Reported Mintage: 176,000 (both assayers).

Specification: 12.93 g, 0.802 fine silver, this specimen 12.94 g.
