This specimen was lot 22652 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $576. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Prussia. 2 Mark, 1876-C. Wilhelm I. NGC MS-64. Blast white and entirely lustrous with few notable marks for the grade. Premium for the issue with none graded finer at NGC and only two higher a PCGS." This type was issued 1876-80, 1883-84 from Berlin ("A"), Hannover ("B") and Frankfurt (shown here, closed 1877). The issues of 1876-77 are common but 1879-80, 1883-84 are scarce. The next silver two mark was issued in 1888 for Frederick III.
