Künker sale 353, lot 4193

This specimen was lot 4193 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €120 (about US$167 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Wilhelm I. 1861-1888. 2 Mark 1877, A. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, William I, 1861-88, two mark of 1877. Very fine to extremely fine.)"

This type was issued 1876-80, 1883-84 from Berlin (shown here), Hannover ("B") and Frankfurt ("C"). The issues of 1876-77 are common but 1879-80, 1883-84 are scarce. The next silver two mark was issued in 1888 for Frederick III. The two mark was slightly larger than the old gulden popular in south Germany.
