This specimen was lot 22619 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $360. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Mecklenburg-Strelitz. 2 Mark, 1877-A. Berlin Mint. PCGS Proof Genuine--Lacquer, Unc Details Secure Holder. Fully detailed with lacquer over lightly handled surfaces. A very SCARCE issue in top condition." Despite the substantial mintage, this is one of the most expensive types of the Wilhelmine empire altho this specimen sold for one-eighth of the catalog value.
