The first specimen was lot 32887 in Heritage sale 3073 (Chicago, April 2019), where it sold for $480. The catalog description[1] noted, "Saxony. Albert 2 Mark 1877-E AU50 NGC, Muldenhutten mint. A comparatively lofty grade for this scarce type, outranked by a mere two examples in the NGC census, with none graded Mint State. From the Engelen Collection of World Coinage." The second specimen was lot 2632 in Künker sale 439 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €800 (about US$1,101 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,

"REICHSSILBERMÜNZEN, SACHSEN Albert, 1873-1902. 2 Mark 1877. Vorzüglich. (kingdom of Saxony, Albert, 1873-1902, two mark of 1877. Extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1876-80, 1883 and 1888 for king Albert. It is common in worn condition but is scarce choice.

Recorded mintage: 796,000 plus proofs.

Specification: 11.11 g, 0.900 fine silver, reeded edge.
