This specimen was lot 24061 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $1,410. The catalog description[1] noted, "Prussia. Wilhelm I 5 Mark 1876-A, MS64 PCGS, a deep blanket of multicolored patination caresses the surfaces with close inspection failing to yield any noteworthy issues. A very scarce item in this condition and extra-appealing to the connoisseur of originality." This type was issued 1874-76 from Berlin (shown here), Hannover ("B") and Frankfurt ("C") but is scarce. It was superseded by a gold five mark struck 1877-78. The next silver five mark was issued in 1888 (see Dav-787).

Specification: 27.77 g, 0.900 fine silver, 38 mm diameter.
