Sincona sale 57, lot 2805

This specimen was lot 2805 in Sincona sale 57 (Zürich, May 2019), where it sold for 80 CHF (about US$95 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND | Empire | Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Grossherzogtum, Friedrich Franz II. 1842-1883. 2 Mark 1876 A, Berlin. Schön. (Germany, grand duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Frederick Francis II, 1842-83, two mark of 1876, Berlin mint. Fine.)"

Conage is scanty from this poverty-stricken, windswept state on the shore of the Baltic. The next issue of two mark would be in 1901.

Recorded mintage: 300,000 plus proofs.

Specification: 11.11 g, 0.900 fine silver, 28 mm diameter, this specimen 10.81 g.
