Künker sale 353, lot 3375

This specimen was lot 3375 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €750 (about US$1,044 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. 1/12 Taler 1742, GK, Cleve. Münzmeister Georg Küster. Von großer Seltenheit. Nur wenige Exemplare bekannt. Fast vorzüglich. Erworben am 26.6.1988 von Dr. Busso Peus Nachf. Frankfurt/Mai. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, one-twelfth thaler of 1741. Extremely rare, very few known, about extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1740-46. This is a scarce date. Mintmaster EGN of the Berlin mint also struck this denomination for 1742.
