Prussia 1743-EGN ducat Fr-2367
This specimen was lot 3333 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €4,600 (about US$6,402 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. Dukat 1743, EGN, Berlin. Münzzeichen mit spiegelverkehrtem N. Münzmeister Ernst Georg Neubauer. GOLD. RR Sehr schön-vorzüglich/vorzüglich. Erworben am 6.10.1993 von der Frankfurter Münzhandlung, Frankfurt/Main. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, ducat of 1743, Berlin mint, mintmark with inverted N. Very rare, very fine to extremely fine.)"
This type was struck 1741-45 with all dates being rare. Issues of ducats in Prussia, never prolific, dwindled after the introduction of the frederick d'or in the 1740's.
