Prussia 1742-CS schilling
This specimen was lot 3665 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €50 (about US$70 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. Schilling 1742, CS, Königsberg. Prägung für die Provinz Preußen. Münzmeister Christian Schirmer.Rauher Schrötling, sehr schön. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, schilling of 1742, Königsberg mint, struck for the province of Prussia. Rough fields, very fine.)"
This type was struck 1741-43 with mintmaster's initials and 1752-56 with mintmark "E" (KM 223.2). This denomination was struck for East Prussia for the rest of the eighteenth century.
