This specimen was lot 953 in Ponterio sale 164 (New York, January 2012), where it sold for $1,265. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU. 2 Escudos, 1793-LMIJ. Charles IV (1788-1808). RARE type. Bold VF+." While eight escudos from Peru are reasonably available, the smaller gold denominations are all very scarce.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 6.77 g, 0.875 fine gold, .190 troy oz AGW.
