This specimen was lot 20976 in Heritage sale 3010 (Boston, August 2010), where it sold for $4,312.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Nurnberg. Free City gold 3 Ducats 1703-GFN, AU58 NGC, lightly toned, rare type and a popular series featuring the Lamb of God. Date in Roman numerals." In 1703, the city issued three, four (Fr-1879) and five ducat pieces all featuring the Paschal Lamb and all rare. The date is a chronogram buried in the obverse legend.
