Sincona sale 39, lot 3192

This specimen was lot 3192 in Sincona sale 39 (Zürich, May 2017), where it sold for 19,000 CHF (about US$22,788 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Nurnberg, Stadt, Doppeltaler o. J. (1706). Titel Joseph I. Stempel von G. Hautsch, 1683-1712. Münzmeister G. F. Nürnberger 1677-1716. Stadtansicht von Westen. Laubrand. Sehr selten. Vorzüglich-FDC. Prachtvolle Erhaltung mit herrlicher Patina. (Germany, city of Nuremberg, undated double thaler struck in the name of Joseph I. Very rare. Extremely fine-uncirculated. Beautiful condition with magnificent patina.)"

This one year type issued in the name of Joseph I is rare in all grades.
