Künker sale 264, lot 3777

This specimen was lot 3777 in Künker sale 264 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €140 (about US$181 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"STADT 1/8 Dukat o. J. (1700). Lammprägung. GOLD. Min. Randfehler, vorzüglich. (Germany, city of Nuremberg, undated eighth ducat, Paschal lamb. Rim flaw, extremely fine.)"

This type was struck starting in 1700 and tho not cheap, is more available than other Nurnberger ducats of the eighteenth century. Fractional ducats including 1/2, 1/4, 1/16 and 1/32 were also issued. This type frequently appears in choice uncirculated, adding to its popularity.
