The first specimen was lot 40126 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $2,012. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Nuremberg. 2 Ducat, 1700-GFN. NGC MS-62." The second specimen was lot 2729 in Sincona sale 26 (Zürich, October 2015), where it sold for 1,600 CHF (about US$1,976 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,

"Nurnberg, Doppeldukat 1700. Gutes vorzüglich. (Germany, city of Nurnberg, double ducat of 1700, good extremely fine.)"

This type was struck starting in 1700 and tho not cheap, is more available than other Nurnberger double ducats of the eighteenth century.

Specification: 7 g, 0.986 fine gold, .221 troy oz AGW, the second specimen 6.93 g.
