Nurnberg (1700) 1/32 ducat Fr-1897
This specimen was lot 2022 in Künker sale 352 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €140 (about US$195 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"NÜRNBERG, STADT, 1/32 Dukat o. J. (1700). Lammprägung. GOLD. Vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (Germany, city of Nuremberg, undated 1/32 ducat, Paschal lamb. extremely fine to uncirculated.)"
In 1700, the city issued a series of Paschal Lamb gold coins ranging from 1/32 ducat (shown here) to five ducats, both in round and klippe (square) format. They were very popular as religious souvenirs and were extensively saved, making them common today. Some were restruck later to fill the demand.
