This specimen was lot 72345 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2020), where it sold for $504. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 250 Pesos, 1986-Mo. Mexico City Mint. NGC PROOF-68 Ultra Cameo. Struck to commemorate the 1986 World Cup Soccer Games. Sharply struck with brilliant fields and frosted cameo devices." This is one of several NCLT's issued for the 1986 World Cup, which Mexico hosted. This type comes with and without the fineness marked on the coin; the proofs were struck without the fineness.

Recorded mintage: 54,770 for 1985-86, with and without fineness marked on coin.

Specification: 8.64 g, 0.900 fine gold.
