Sincona sale 43, lot 3636

This specimen was lot 3636 in Sincona sale 43 (Zürich, October 2017), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"Mexiko, Erste Republik, 1823-1864 8 Escudos 1854. PF-Guanajuato. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (first republic of Mexico, 1823-64, eight escudos of 1854, Guanajuato mint. Very fine-extremely fine.)"

The Guanajuato mint struck eight escudos 1825-70 and is one of the abundant mints for that denomination; most dates are common.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.875 fine gold, .760 troy oz AGW, this specimen 27.05 g.
