This specimen was lot 73308 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $390.40. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 4 Reales, 1854/3-Zs OM. Zacatecas Mint. NGC AU-53. Tied or second highest graded by NGC. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." Shown is an 1854-Zs OM four reales, one of a type struck at the Zacatecas mint 1830-70. Assayer OM (Manuel Ochoa and Manuel Miner) is recorded for 1830-56. Ten mints (Mexico City, Guanajuato, Zacatecas, Potosi, Oaxaca, Hermosillo, Real del Catorce, Guadalupe y Calvo, Guadalajara and Culiacan) struck this type of which Guanajuato is tied with Zacatecas as the commonest mint. This date is scarce with no regular date listed.
