This specimen was lot 4139 in Stack's-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $575.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. Holland. Duit, 1740. PCGS Genuine--Filed Rims, AU Details Secure Holder. Gold." Copper duits of this design are listed for 1702-80 and are fairly inexpensive tho not often seen at American coin shows. There is also an extensive series of presentation strikes in silver and gold (shown here). The copper duit was one eighth of a stuiver but this coin, which weighed as much as a double ducat, was worth considerably more.
