This specimen was lot 41451 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Hannover. 1/6 Taler, 1731-C. Zellerfeld Mint. Georg II August (George II of Great Britain). PCGS AU-58." This type was struck 1727-60 and is common. It was equal to six mariengroschen, a denomination last coined in 1715. Another one-sixth thaler was struck in 1731 with St. Andrew on the reverse (KM 221). A one-sixth thaler with a leaping stallion reverse was struck in 1730 and 1732 (KM 220) but not in 1731.
