Künker sale 386, lot 5193

This specimen was lot 5193 in Künker sale 386 (Osnabrück, March 2023), where it sold for €900 (about US$1,163 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRAUNSCHWEIG-CALENBERG-HANNOVER, AB 1692 KURFÜRSTENTUM HANNOVER, als Georg I. König von Großbritannien, 1714-1727. Reichstaler 1720, Clausthal. Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung. Prachtexemplar. Vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. Exemplar der Auktion Fritz Rudolf Künker 52, Osnabrück 1999, Nr. 4923. (electorate of Hannover, George I, king of Great Britain, 1714-27, thaler of 1720, Clausthal mint. Very scarce in this quality, outstanding example, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

This type was struck 1719-27 and is a somewhat better type. Other thalers for 1720 include KM 113.2 (leaping stallion), KM 114 (wild man), KM 133.2 (St. Andrew) and KM 134 (wild man, Dav-2077).
