This specimen was lot 38428 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $900. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Weimar Republic. 5 Mark, 1929-A. Berlin Mint. PCGS MS-66. Oak Tree type." This type was minted in large quantities 1927-32 from six mints yet is today scarce. It seems likely most were melted without ever leaving government vaults.
Recorded mintage: 6,730,000.
Specification: 25 g, 0.500 fine silver, 37 mm diameter, .401 troy oz ASW.
