This specimen was lot 71218 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $3,172. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Empire. 2 Francs, Year 14-MA (1805/6). Marseille Mint. Napoleon I. PCGS VF-30. Fairly evenly circulated, this specimen emanates from a VERY RARE output and, rather unsurprisingly, represents the only such occurrence of the type in the PCGS census. From the Richard Margolis Collection (acquired on 12 February 1971 in Paris for $360)." This is a rare date of a type struck years 12-14. The catalog[2] reports 35 date-mintmark combinations, most very rare like this one. In 1806, the French revolutionary calendar was dropped and normal AD dating resumed.

Recorded mintage: 2,283.

Specification: 10 grams, 0.900 fine silver, 27 mm diameter, lettered edge. Designed by Pierre Joseph Tiolier, 1763-1819.
