This specimen was lot 71364 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $3,120. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Empire. 2 Francs, 1813-K. Bordeaux Mint. Napoleon I. PCGS AU-53. The only example of the type in the PCGS census, this deeply toned and lightly circulated minor offers a delightful amber nature to the gunmetal gray. From the Richard Margolis Collection (acquired from Émile & Sabine Bourgey in Paris on 20 September 1992 for $400)." In 1809, the reverse legend was changed from "REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE" to "EMPIRE FRANCAISE" and struck in this form until 1814. It is the most common Napoleonic two francs after the Year 12. There are 69 date-mintmark combinations, most scarce to rare as this one is.

Recorded mintage: 26,515[2], a fairly scarce date.

Specification: 10 g, 0.900 fine silver, 27 mm diameter, edge lettered DIEU PROTEGE LA FRANCE. Designed by Pierre Joseph Tiolier, 1763-1819.
