This specimen was lot 71314 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $384. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Empire. 5 Francs, 1812-K. Bordeaux Mint. Napoleon I. PCGS AU-55. Very nearly Mint State, this exceedingly attractive Napoleonic crown offers a crisp, elegant strike, essentially no evidence of wear, robust brilliance, and an alluring golden-russet tone throughout. From the Richard Margolis Collection (acquired from Rosenblum in 2004 for $279). Ex: Bill Rosenblum FPL 340 (Summer 2004) Lot # 403." This five francs is the most common coin of Napoleon, being minted from dozens of mints in large quantities.

Recorded mintage: 1,661,784[2], a slightly better date.

Specification: 25 g, 0.900 fine silver, 37 mm diameter, edge lettered DIEU PROTEGE LA FRANCE. Designed by Pierre Joseph Tiolier, 1763-1819.
