This specimen was lot 32775 in Heritage sale 3073 (Chicago, April 2019), where it sold for $720. The catalog description[1] noted, "Napoleon 5 Francs 1813-K MS62 NGC, Bordeaux mint. Supremely flashy and very much on the edge of choice, a bright icy light in the fields catching glints of champagne and smoky hues, juxtaposed nicely against the semi-frosty portrait of the French emperor." This issue, from the Bordeaux mint, is a fairly common date of a type struck 1809-15. A rare 1813/2 overdate exists. This type succeeded the "REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE" reverse struck 1807-08. A complete set of this type comprises 95 date and mintmark combinations, some very rare. The entire production run totaled about 128 million pieces. This date is priced[2] about 60% more than the common date.

Recorded mintage: 1,279,606[2].

Specification: 25 g, 0.900 fine silver, 37 mm diameter, edge lettered DIEU PROTEGE LA FRANCE, designed by Pierre Joseph Tiolier.

Catalog reference: Gadoury 584, Dav-85, F.307/66, KM 694.8.
