This issue, from the Lyon mint, is a better date of a type struck 1809-14. It appears to be the overdate 1813/2, which is listed in Le Franc[1] but not in the SCWC[2]. In 1806 the French revolutionary calendar was dropped and normal AD dating resumed. This type is the last and probably the most available Napoleonic demi-franc. It was demonetized in 1869.

A complete set of this type comprises 64 date and mintmark combinations, many very rare. This date is priced[1] about 2.5 times the common date (1811A). This specimen was lot 1704 in CGB sale 31 (Paris, June 2007).

Specification: 18 mm diameter, 2.5 grams, 0.900 fine silver, plain edge. Designed by Pierre Joseph Tiolier, 1763-1819.

Mintage: 110,224[1], 110,000[2].

Catalog reference: F.178/51, KM 692.5.
