SB925-71405r.jpg

This specimen was lot 71405 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $780. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Empire. Franc, 1813-U. Turin Mint. Napoleon I. PCGS FINE-12. Despite a fair amount of circulation, this minor stands as a RARE offering from a difficult mint. Lightly toned and pleasing, and the only example of the type in the PCGS census. From the Richard Margolis Collection (acquired from Leu in 1975 for $204). Ex: Leu (10/1975) Lot # 407." A complete set of this type comprises 74 date and mintmark combinations, many very rare.

Recorded mintage: 6,059[2], a rare date.
