This specimen was lot 74626 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2025), where it sold for $1,560. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Louis d'Or, 1694-BB. Strasbourg Mint. Louis XIV. NGC AU-58. A lovely nearly-Mint State example, yielding handsome luster and sharp details throughout." This type, known as a louis d'or aux 4 L, was struck 1693-1700, mostly over older coins. Twenty-four mints contributed in 1694. This is a common date.

Recorded mintage: unknown, rf (reformed blanks) common, fn (new blanks) very rare.

Specification: 6.75 g, 0.917 fine gold, 24-26 mm diameter, reeded edge, designed by J. Röettiers.
