This specimen was lot 75361 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $576. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Penny, ND (1547-51). London Mint. Edward VI, in the name of Henry VIII. PCGS EF-45. Posthumous issue. From the Richard August Collection." The early silver coinage of Edward was only 4 oz (0.333) fine. The old portrait was probably used as an excuse to continue issuing debased silver. Pennies of this style were struck at London, Southwark, Durham, Bristol, Canterbury and York.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver.
