This specimen was lot 22692 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2019), where it sold for $660. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Groat, ND (1547-51). Henry VIII. NGC VF-30. Posthumous issue. Struck under Edward VI. Good portrait, struck on a somewhat oval planchet, toned." The scowling portrait of the bloated Henry VIII is strongly reminiscent of certain current politicians. The old portrait was probably used as an excuse to continue issuing debased silver.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver, this specimen 2.36 g.
Catalog reference: S-2403.
