Sincona sale 85, lot 2154

This specimen was lot 2154 in Sincona sale 87 (Zürich, October 2023), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"CHINA, 10 Yuan 1990, Shanghai Mint. Panda. Large date. FDC, In Originalverschweissung, Uncirculated. In original capsule."

The Chinese government has, since the mid 1980's, produced a mind boggling array of bullion related collectibles. Other ten yuan for 1990 include KM 276 (silver panda), KM 277 (platinum panda), KM 282 (year of the horse), KM 283, KM 291, KM 292, KM 293, KM 294, KM 300, KM 301, KM 302, KM 305, KM 306, KM 307, KM 308, KM 316 (dragon and phoenix) and KM 317.

Recorded mintage: 21,654 plus 5,000 proofs.
