This specimen was lot 22238 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Anaheim, CA, August 2016), where it sold for $881.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHINA. 50 Yuan, 1983. Panda Series. NGC MS-69. From very early in the series and in nearly flawless condition. No spots, tone or fog." The fifty yuan was used for the half ounce gold panda starting in 1983, with a different reverse for each year. The one ounce panda was one hundred yuan.

Recorded mintage: 28,596.

Specification: 15.55 g, 0.999 fine gold, .500 troy oz AGW.
