This specimen was lot 71419 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2022), where it sold for $528. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHILE. 4 Reales, 1800-So AJ. Santiago Mint. Charles IV. PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, EF Details. A well-preserved example with stunning detail. Although the noted cleaning has impacted the original finish, the surfaces display an elegant mottled gray tone. Plenty of luster remains in the fields, and the well-struck devices present handsomely. This coin offers abundant eye appeal despite its shortcomings. From the Pat Johnson Collection." This type was issued from Santiago 1792-1808 and is scarce. Assayer AJ is listed for 1800-01. This specimen was lot 880 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 38 (Winter Park, FL, November 2025), where it sold for $570.
