Stack's Bowers February 2023 Collector's Choice sale, lot 73258

This specimen was lot 73258 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $408. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Brunswick. 24 Mariengroschen, 1754-IBH. Zellerfeld Mint. Karl I. PCGS MS-62. Rather crisp and enticing, this near-Choice minor dazzles with an ample array of brilliant luster and a champagne-hued tone throughout. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection." This denomination was two-thirds of a thaler or one gulden. This type was struck 1735-80 and is common. Mintmaster IBH appears 1739-62.
