This specimen was lot 5411 in Künker sale 354 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €1,000 (about US$1,392 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRAUNSCHWEIG UND LÜNEBURG, BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBÜTTEL, FÜRSTENTUM, Julius, 1568-1589. 1/2 Reichstaler 1587, Goslar. Halber Lichttaler. R Feine Patina, fast vorzüglich. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, Julius, 1568-89, half "light" thaler of 1587, Goslar mint. Rare, fine patina, about extremely fine.)"

This "light" half thaler (presumably referring to the lamp in the wild man's hand and not the weight) is noted for 1583-87.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver, this specimen 14,54 g.

Catalog reference: KM MB188, Welter 586.
